Hi Amanda,

It is crucial that you socialize your puppy. My puppy was a very timid when we started puppy school in mid-Jan. He is very outgoing now and has no problem with strangers or other dogs.

What they taught me at puppy school is that when your dog is acting scared like that, you are only reinforcing the behavior by holding her. They made me put my puppy on the floor. He was scared at first but he snapped out of it pretty quickly. He really enjoys going to puppy school now.

If you can make it, I would suggest coming out. I would also suggest looking into some sort of formal class to keep your puppy interacting with people and dogs on a regular basis. It really made a big difference for my puppy.
