Because of the luxating patellas.....because they are moving in and out, there is wear and tear on the ligament. That is why many surgeons don't recommend repairing LP in an adult pup because the wear and tear has already taken place and the ligament is already at high risk of tearing. If you repair the LP at that point, it will not prevent the tear....and then you are looking at two surgeries.
