Here's my question...is it cruel to put up the dishes? Hubby thought so, but I don't. Please tell me if I'm wrong.

Do you free feed then? I feed on a schedule and their last meal is at 5. Even if you are free feeding I would pick up the food bowl way before 8 so he has enough time to eliminate before bed. Also, for the water. Most people will say leave the water out at all times, but I do pick up the water a little before bed. My pups lay down to sleep at 8:30 and I pick up the water at 8. That gives them 30 minutes to empty their bladder. I think of it like my child. I don't let my child drink right before bed for the same reasons. Also, to help with the nighttime wakings, you could wake him up when you go to bed to pee one more time. For example, Lexi will lay down to sleep at 8:30. I will take her out at 8:30 and then when I am ready to go to bed at 10 or so I will wake her up to go again and then put her back to bed. Not sure how old he is, but that should help some with the night wakings, if he's young, he still may need to get up once at night.
