I am truly sorry to hear about the torn ligament. My Gina, RIP, severed her cruitate ligament and had to have surgery. The ortho vet said that there was a good possibility that she would injure her other back leg within a year due to her favoring her repaired leg. At 11 mos out she tore her other ligament. I opted not to do surgery as it was very hard on her the first time around and she would seizure when stressed. We kept her from jumping and running for about a month. She never had the second surgery and there were no major problems. I can not suggest that you don't do the surgery but talk with an ortho vet and do research before making that decision. Good luck.
