For a long time I just made Dinky sweaters from socks my husband didn't want. I chose very stretchy ones. I cut the toe off, some leg holes, a small opening for the halter clip, and that's it. They fit great, and he looked very cute.
I used a dog sweater that fit him to measure the holes. Sometimes the top of the sock can be folded down. And if I like it in particular, I take the time to stitch around the opening for the halter clip to keep it from unraveling.
These are easy to put on him too.
Now that he is 4.5 pounds, the sock sweaters are tight, but it was fun thing while it lasted.
