Mindless people Not too long ago I had 3 large dogs, Chewy ( Pitt mix), Otello ( Rottweiler/Labrador) and Denalli ( Rottweiler/retriever) that I would walk all at once all by myself constantly. I am only 5"1 and 107 lbs. and I never had a problem holding onto the two that I knew I couldn't trust not to hurt another dog. Chewy was so chill and docile ( unless provoked by a bigger dog) and absolutely LOVED small dogs, and I would usually let him walk himself while I kept control of Denalli and Otello. And he would see a small dog and perk up and mosey over to it and even if the dog was being aggressive to him when he approached he would just wag his tail and lay down in front of it with his butt up in the air and tilt his head up. Sometimes people would trip at first. But he'd end up letting that bounce all over his head and just sit there all happy panting. People would trip cause he was part Pitt bull , expecting the worst. But never ever would I allow my rottie mixes out of my control . They were unpredictable . I at least had the mind to recognize that. Now that I've had the experience of being the one with the smaller dog, I get it. I get why they were so panicky. Although I knew chewy would never hurt a small dog no matter how aggressive or spastic it was, I didn't understand that from the other owners perspective all it would take would be one hard shake to kill their baby. But now I get it. Sometimes you gotta point that out cause they think there dog wouldn't, or they think they could split the fight up or whatever. But that's a risk you'd rather not take on a dog you don't know. They may have the assurance of having a dog that has a fighting chance but all it takes is one shake of their head to put ours out for good. I totally get it now. |
