A Night Prayer for the Rescuers Now I lay me down to sleep
A real BIG Yorkie by my feet.
A second sleeps by my belly
Dreaming of a nearby deli.
A third by my head appears
Sharing my pillow without fears.
Two smalls at the center snore
Hardly bed space for any more.
I give thanks for my small friends
For their love they give without end.
Light fading, I hear flutter
Angels wings perhaps, I wonder.
My eyes close we sleep in peace
Wrapped in oceans of golden fleece.
God please bless all that care take
Their hard work and toil smiles do make
Trusting hands steady and true
Without them, what would small friends do? |
