Don't know if this would help, but I use a MiFi ( that I got from Verizon). I keep it charge up and in my purse at all times. I can charge it from my car or my computer or a regular household socket. I pay for it by the month. I can use it anywhere - most recently during a long-wait vet visit where I sat in the car with my iPad for about 2 hours on line the whole time.

Downside - don't use it to download things like movies because you will go over the allotted amount and get changed more.

I even use it when the wifi goes down at work - I am always connected. What it costs me. Month is much less the upkeep on a generator and I can use it wherever I am.
