I like all advise given so far. I have another one for you, if you have never given yourself eyedrops do so now. Get a saline wash for contacts and practise on your own eyes. That will also give you confidence.
I too give treats afterwards, and a couple of warm pets. In fact all my dogs will line up to get eye drops = treats
