Jumping in late here. Yes, I trim Tatiana's nails myself. She doesn't like it, but I found a way to relax her. She enjoys me brushing her coat and feet, so I would brush her and trim her nails at the same time. Whenever she is brushed, she relaxes. That's when I would trim a couple of nails. When she pulls away, I would brush her again, she would relax, and I would trim a couple of nails again.
Oftentimes, I would also trim her coat. So basically, Tatiana is getting a full-service grooming -- haircut, brush out, and nail trim! It's like a spa day for her.
