I don't know about a generator. Don't you have to fill those up with oil and keep attending to them even during howlingly bad weather outside, etc., being sure they have fuel, aren't sending carbon monoxide into your windows, cracks in the doors, etc.? I'm a little scared to use one of those. So far, our power is never down for too long but I mainly just want something to keep in touch during power outages. And if I get a craving for pizza during power outages, I'm able to get by w/out it for a few hours. Not many but a few! haha.
