My take is this: I try to always keep Metacam on hand in the event that Billi is in pain, but I'm not sure that you would need more medicine right now than what they're giving her already. You figure, some pain is good- it reminds us of our limitations and will keep her from chewing or biting things she shouldn't be right now.
She'll probably be sore tho, so maybe switch her to a softer food for the time being and pile on the hugs and kisses! She'll be better soon, I'm sure
