Yorkie ate macadamia nut advice for others. I do not post here often but wanted to voice my experience for others if one encounters the same situation. Our Yorkie ate half a macadamia nut a few days ago. As you know, they are toxic to dogs especially our little Yorkies. We just took him to the vet for another problem a week prior and paid quite a bit of money. So we read online and decided to watch him closely instead of dragging him to the vet again for x-rays, etc. The same night, he did vomit twice. But he seemed ok (no paralysis of hind legs, no lethargy, etc). The very next day, he seemed ok and went through the day just fine. 72 hours later, I let him outside to do his business and he ran about as usual but stopped several times as if he was just trying to vomit again. After several attempts, he vomited a yellowish liquid and out came the nut! This is after he ate twice over the course of 72 hours too! It's mind-boggling how this toxic nut does not digest in their tummies. So for those who encounter the same problem, hopefully your doggie will recover and I want to save some people the grief and possible vet bill and for you not to panic. Hopefully, my post will help others. |
