I'm not sure about New Jersey, but nearly all the states have a law stating the minimum age of sell is no younger than 8 week. Of course this takes all breeds into account and larger breeds mature faster than smaller breeds, so for a yorkie 6 weeks is really really young. Whoever buys at that age will have problems with housebreaking and biting, because a good mama will teach both of these things if left with her babies for 12 weeks. Although many backyard breeders don't even breed "good" mamas, they tend to breed their pets. If you have an address of phone number you could probably turn them over to some state agency. There are large fines for selling younger than state law dictates. |
