Hi all,
I am new to the forum. I have a 8 1/2 year old male Yorkie, DaVinci, and a new member of my family a beautiful 12 week old male Yorkie puppy we named Jeter.

I was really worried about introducing a new pup to my 8 1/2 year old boy because he usually doesn't take to other dogs. Originally I had wanted to adopt a Yorkie rescue but the waiting list is long and getting a rescue puppy didn't seem possible. I had been wanting to get another Yorkie for my little guy for a long time so he would have a playmate. The introduction of the new puppy has gone so much better than I had ever imagined, DaVinci is such a good big brother and seems to be very accepting of Jeter. He's been teaching him boundaries and has been very good with him. The baby really wants to play with him in the worst way and pounds his little paws and barks at him to chase him but DaVinci isn't quite there yet. It's been a week today and I can tell that they will be playing together in no time. He shares everything with the baby and shows no aggression at all when the baby wants what he's playing with.
The puppy is not created as there's no need, I got him from a breeder and the breeder did a great job with handling and training him from very young. He had started potty training before I got him and while he's had accidents inside, I take him out every couple of hours and it's going well. My Mom lives with me and is retired and home all day so he is never alone. I do have a big puppy playpen for him so when we are both out he can't mess with the cats unsupervised or get into any other trouble.
Unfortunately he isn't leash trained and that's been a little difficult but I am getting a nylon leash to place on him while in the house so he gets used to it.
I am sure I will learn plenty here and just wanted to say hi.
