Neutering at least will be good for his health. Training to go potty on a pad and outside can be confusing so I would just do one or the other not both. I'm guessing he is not sleeping in your bedroom with you and that could be why he is barking. I think it would be wrong to keep him some where buy himself at night. Keeping him in a crate in your bedroom at night would probably be best and keep him from potting any where he wants. Also keeping him confinded to a certain space until he is potty trained it best. Going potty in front of the door makes me think he knows he needs to go out and maybe you weren't watching him for the signs or trying to tell you he needed out. Mine knows poo poo and go pee pee. When they go poo poo you can praise them by saying good poo poo good poo poo or whatever word you want to call it and give a treat. You have to keep in mind though going pee is one thing but they can't always go poo just because you are telling them too.
