I agree 100%.
If your dog is afraid of a vacuum cleaner, you're not cleaning enough if you have carpets.
Make some loud noises fun for the dog, it's all how it's presented. If they know the source, or not, and that the master is joyful and happy during the noise, the dog can be trained to enjoy it too.
