The legs, yes, are what give them away. The legs move a lot, ewwww.
Ticks have to be attached for 24 - 48 hours to possibly infect the dog/person. You do not need to have your babies tested for lyme if you find a tick.
Teddy has had many ticks. We have annual tick borne disease tests when we have the heartworm test done. I'm not sure if it is worth it or necessary.
