This is one of things I am scared of. I have never seen a tick, how do I know if it's a speck of dirt or a tick? Can you see the legs? If I do find a tick on a dog, do I need to take them to the vet and get tested to see if they have lyme when I get back?

Ticks do not move as fast as fleas and do not jump. They are easy to catch, although the smallest of them can be difficult to spot. Teddy had one that looked like a speck of dirt under his eye.
I use tweezers to catch and remove the tick. Then I put the tick in a ziplock bag with rubbing alcohol to make sure it dies. |
