My iPad 2 gave up the ghost after I dropped it recently and it was not recoverable and I thought I had lost everything. :-((
I did not knowingly back up my IPad content, but the Mac Genius was able to recover all from the Cloud and transfer to the replacement IPad. Yeh! It must have done an auto back up to the Cloud, but nowI make sure it is backed up on a regular basis. Whew that was a scary moment!
