When we lived in Illinois our son and his family lived about 35 miles from us. Several times when we called to let them know we were coming up they'd run a few errands before we arrived, lose track of time and be gone when we got there. So, we decided to get them back. We're in Florida now and they're not happy about it, they keep asking when we're coming home. Well...I just had a friend fly down for a visit and she lives in the same town as our son...he wanted some Harley Davidson shirts so we bought several for the whole family and sent them home with my friend to secretly drop them off on their porch...with this note inside: "Bill, we stopped by but no one answered the door. We couldn't stick around too long because we need to head for home. Sorry we missed you...enjoy the t-shirts! Love, Dad and Teri" My friend called when she dropped them off and I bet it wasn't 10 minutes before we got a call from our son! Needless to say...he didn't think it was so funny but we sure got a kick out of it! Maybe the next time we call to say we're on the way for a visit they'll stay at home and wait for us! |
