You might want to train/acclimate your pup to crate and pen now, starting with short periods and lengthening, then start same with leaving house. Its easier if you start from day one when you bring pup home and can be a valuable item later, as when spaying.
If done suddenly can have bad reactions from pup, separation anxiety and such, also there will be enough stress from the surgery without the added crate fright.
