I firmly believe in obedience training for all dogs. Sets the tone for who is in charge and makes the dog safe by of obeying commands when it is really important.
There is a fair amount of literature out there that wants to debunk the pack mentality in the pet setting. I'm nor sure about that, but I do know that who the leader is in the pet home makes a major difference in the group dynamic.
