Have you tried a trainer? Some are better than others. This thread really helped Joey.

What triggers Sofi? Noises or sights, or both. I would try using one of the sound machines to block noise and curtains etc. to block sights. On of the bad things about debarking is sometimes there's is still quite a bit of noise when the dog barks and it sounds really awful. Many people regret having it done. What does you personal vet say about it? I think I'd call several trainers and see if they work with barking dogs, and then I let my landlord know I hired a trainer and wanted to try this before doing the surgery. Remember that the trainer will teach you how to train, you're the one that actually has to practice. To answer your question though, I'd ask my vet for a referral.
