Change vets when you can.....he knows NOTHING about whelping. You do xrays mainly to MEASURE the puppies heads to see if they will fit through the pelvic ring of the momma. Ultra sounds are done at 3-4 weeks to determine a successful breeding, number of puppies, number of live puppies. Mommas size has NOTHING to do with the size of her pelvic ring....she can be 12 lbs and have a very narrow pelvic ring that will NOT allow puppies to pass through. Good luck with this litter......;
