I know what you mean though, tartisst. For the longest time while Minnie was alive I thought I could never have another pup once Minnie died. My bond with Minnie was so strong; she was my greatest joy in life. And yet, when it happened I knew I would get another dog, though not for a while because I wanted time to grieve her. Started really looking only once I was 100% sure I was ready. And now I have that same kind of bond with Cookie. Probably even stronger since Minnie taught me to never take things for granted.
