Default Perfect little Piper

I've had my 4yr old yorkie for a few months now and love her more with each passing day. I don't know anything about her life before coming to me; she's very smart with things she likes, not so much w/housebreaking, although she's doing ever so much better. Piper seems very sensitive and responds with lowered head when I've asked her to do something simple such as to sit, so I haven't pushed her--I love her as she is...But knowing how very intelligent she is and how quick to learn (again, with things that appeal to her), I'm wondering if maybe she's sorta playing me with the aversion (hurt) to basic training. Although I raised German Shepherds (obedience trained, et al), Piper is my first yorkie (little dog) and she'd give my shepherds a run for their money as to ability to learn. Again, I think my little girl is perfection as is, but am I missing something or misreading her? Or perhaps she's simply a better trainer than I...?!
