Default Tooth sensitivity after a dental!

My Yorkie has regular yearly dental treatments and X-rays due to her root resorbtion problem. She has always had sensitive teeth eg if she chews a toy too hard it hurts, if she plays tug too roughly it hurts etc. (I have now stopped the tug game, much to her disappointment.) She recently had her dental and yesterday she drank some cold water and jumped back in fright, as it obviously hurt her teeth. She had a lick of my daughter's ice cream today and the same thing happened. Is this a sign that the dentist has missed a cracked tooth or exposed nerve or something? What can I do to reduce this sensitivity?
