Some people use eye drops with good results, but I prefer to use plain tap water drizzled from a cotton ball to rinse the eyes. If that does not stop the yellow discharge, then a visit with the vet. Some drops may cause harm if a scratch or ulcer is present. I would opt for plain saline if you use anything.

Max had a lot of eye issues a couple years ago. I discovered that he reacted negatively to plain sterile saline drops with no preservatives. Tap water is what goes in his eyes during a bath, so I decided it can't be too harmful.

Normally I would recite the phrase, "don't mess around with the eyes," but I have become experienced enough with my boys to determine when the vet is needed immediately.

Hope Crystal's eyes are back to normal by morning.
