Try a booster seat, I adopted a 3 y/o who always got car sick, panting, vomiting. I got him a booster seat. One that was elevated OFF the passenger seat. This is what I got. Name of booster seat at Pet supplies….Tagalong Pet Booster Seat…large size holds up to 18 Lb dog. Basket dimensions: 16” W x 14”D x 8” H..it comes in size small also, Cody weighs close to 13 Lbs. I choose the larger size so he has room to lay down. He has been using it 4 months now, no more panting, vomiting, he sits there looking like a king on his throne. Other members will advise, suggest and give their opinions and experience. This seat worked for me. Good luck
