Thanks you are spot on. I feel the Andis set does have a lower motor which although quieter it tends to not cut well because of the slowness. If it's slow then it usually does not grab the hair well to cut. Also i t definately gets hot. It typically takes about an hour to groom and the blades get hot.
I'll probably do what you recommend which is to buy a good clipper and get the blades separately.
