There are people who are caring and honest. I have found owners of 4 dogs over the years. I could never keep someone's baby. The first thing I did was scan the dogs. 2 were returned this way and the other 2 were neighbors' dogs that after knocking on every door in a 2 block radius, I found the surprised owners. But back to the 2 that were chipped. They were two small dogs different owners and years apart, but both sets of owners thrilled to have their loved one home.
It was so easy to scan and have the office call.
I think it can be the difference between getting your loved one back or not.
Do you count on someone taking hours to possibly take a pic of your dog, print them up, post them everywhere and hope you see it?
Or go to the nearest vet and scan the pup have the office call. Reunited in 5 minutes...

A tag on a collar is even easier and normally faster at getting your dog back to you.
