It's genetics. My three year old has had four dentals in his life, three done by a vet dentist. He had 10 teeth pulled. It's been about a month since his dental, I brush every day and rinse his mouth with a water additive called Healthy mouth. He is already showing some slight tartar buildup, I have to really focus today on that one area that I saw. So don't feel like a horrible owner. Some dogs like my 14 yo male have beautiful teeth with few problems. Others don't have the luck.
