Once they learn, there is no keeping them down. Peanut started jumping up and getting hold of the top of the couch with his nails and then climbing up on the couch. He now just jumps up there. We have the little stairs but he only uses them when he has a toy in his mouth and wants to take it up on the couch. We have stairs up to our bed that we had for our schnauzer. He just watched her use them and followed her right up and down them.
