I was wondering the same thing... Shelters around here are not cheap.

Good for you to tell the sister off! I wish I had the opportunity to say someting to my brother-in-law.

I went through a similar situation. My husbands older brother would get a puppy (large breeds) then when the novelty wears off put them in the back yard and not play with them. These dogs then out of boredom will start digging, barking or have other behavioral problems then they say it's a bad dog and give it away! What really ticks me off is they have 3 young children who is being brought up to think it's ok to have pets, not take care of them and it's ok to give them away. No sense of responsibility.

There's been so many time where I had to bite my tongue and not cause a scene!

Some people should NEVER be allowed to have ANY pets!
