My understanding is that this is the last litter. Once her mom is gone she won't be breeding any more. This was her mom's baby (breeding) and she won't live long enough to see another season of pups. I'm not defending her, I just know what she is going through with her mom, and in that sense; while still unexcusable, it is the situation.
