So very sorry, I can only imagine how horrible this is for you and your girlfriend. Heartbreaking. We live in CA too and the coyotes are a huge concern in our area. I have seen them mid morning walking through our neighborhood, very frightening with a pup on a leash. Several locals have had coyotes come out of bushes in the evening and grab small dogs as they are walking them on leash!
