in the years of owning dogs, I have found diff. foods do change the color of their poop. You are doing this on occasion,(small amts during the week) so the poop color will change, so may the texture of the poop. Maybe it was just the salmon that made it lighter in color, as long as the poop texture didn't change, get loose, I wouldn't worry about it. You said you feed that to him for a couple of days, maybe if you only gave it to him one time his poop color would have stayed the same, 2 days in a row I could see a change in color.
