It often does show on xray, but I can tell you it does not always. It happened with one of my pups. He was diagnosed with ct based on an xray. He was suddenly unable to walk one day and rushed to Texas A&M and I mentioned the trachea. They did an xray and it did not show. He almost died after the surgery due to CT!

Again, the only definitive way is by fluouroscopy. I am not saying it cannot be diagnosed by xray.
