Poor Bentley. As Shelbysmom indicated, diarrhea can be a side effect of anesthesia. It is also listed as a side effect with the Meloxicam. A change in diet for a dog with a regimented system can also cause havoc.
I hope the rice and smaller meals will help bind things up for Bentley. If he doesn't appear to be in any pain, I think I would also ask the vet if you can discontinue the Meloxicam. Sounds like you can, since the vet said 3 to 5 days. Max needed pain meds the first night only, but every doggy is different.
