It could be he's got some level of liver dysfunction but that's not always the worst thing in the world and can often be managed by a change in diet. Try not to worry, have the sonogram and see what it shows and go from there. Has he had a Bile Acids Test?

Does your doggie have any problems with nausea, spitting up bile, being lethargic, refusing to eat or rubbing his head against the walls & furniture or anything like that at times?

My little Tibbe was diagnosed with IBS a couple of years back & MVD last year and he's going fairly well on a special hepatic diet. His IBS seems to occasionally give him more problems than his liver problem.
