I wouldn't because usually if they manipulate and elicit a cough it is CT. I mean if you really want to know, it would definitely tell you much more such as how severe it is.
Regardless, the treatment would be the same. It's not like there is a cure for CT and having a definitive diagnosis will make a difference.
Try to keep him from getting overly excited....the more they cough, the worse it can get.
