 Heart worm.
A neighbor (in SoCal) has a young black Lab and they spend much of the year in Louisiana. The owner told me the dog was recently seriously ill from heart worm, but recovered after the drastic treatment. The dog was on regular preventive HW meds, but still got the HW in LA. The owner said that in LA, HW preventives were often ineffective as the worms had become immune to them!!!
That is scary news if it is true, as what can one do to stop HW infection? This poor dog could get it again!!! Has anyone in the Southern states heard of this? |
