if you have room and you feel bad about crate training have you thought about an X pen? I potty pad trained mine by using an X pen. They have more room to walk around and you can leave water, food and line the pen with potty pads on the floor. Each week make the pads take up less space in the x pen. Also high reward treats for each potty on the pad. I can't stress enough to treat and praise after each success on the potty pad.

It took one of mine a year before I would trust her out of the x pen without me walking behind her. I know it's frustrating, you need your sleep and you think they will never get it but the first time they walk over to the potty pad and pee and turn around to look at you, your heart will melt into a puddle of goo. Hang in there and be consistent. Your puppy is really a baby right now so have patience. It will get easier.
