Since you're already having issues with her and brushing I wouldn't work the matts out, you don't want to make your life even harder in the future.
I'd cut the matts with thinning shears to break them down and make it easier to save some hair without hurting her. This also leaves less of a dead spot.
For brushing I used to give Lola cookies that took her a little time to eat constantly while she learned brushing was ok, then I slowly cut it back. Now she just gets a small treat before and after.
In the future, after she's ok with brushing, you can use coconut oil and a comb to work matts out. |
