My poodle with the warts was on medication too, phenobarbital for epilepsy. She was a very healthy dog other than the epilepsy (which was controlled by medicine) until she developed CHF around age 14.5, she was almost 16 when she died.

I read the article bjh posted, I'm not sure if that's the type of wart my poodle had, but I think if they were viral her sister would have caught them too. They were always grooming each other and were very close. My vet just said they're something old dogs get and we didn't need to do anything.

The only time the warts caused a problem was when the groomer cut the heads off about 15 warts, poor dog was so itchy. We got a new groomer after that and she only cut one wart in like 3 groomings and felt horrible about it.
