Hi
Lots of different potty advice available on other threads if you do a search for Potty training.
My Shelby is totally wee pad trained and has been for several months. She is almost 11 months old. If you have a young pup don't expect too much too soon. For wee pad training I suggest using an ex pen or some type of enclosure that will limit the space they can run free. When you catch them going in the right place give them a little piece of a treat and make a big exciting hoopla out of it saying "good potty" or something so they know what they did right. When you see them make a mistake (miss) say nothing and clean up immediately. (get rid of the odor or they will go back to that place to potty)
Once you see them using their wee pad most of the time, give them a little more free space and see if they run back to the pad. If not, they aren't ready for free space yet.
Any type of potty training takes patience but I found wee pad training to be pretty easy. Shelby was about 95% trained at around 5 months. Now she RUNS to her wee pad (one upstairs, one down) if she needs to go.
If they shred pads it may be the brand you are using or they may need one of those holders. Some people have to resort to cloth pads (washable).
Good luck |
