I can relate. Teddy is great, but Max is almost impossible. I cheat and walk the boys on rough pavement daily to grind down their nails.
Trim after a bath and the nails are easier to cut. Be confident or you will make your dog nervous and more likely to squirm more. Keep styptic powder or corn starch on hand in case you cut the quick and cause a bleed.
Take only a little of the nail off at a time to prevent cutting the quick. Work on nail trimming often so your pup gets accustomed to it. Even if you fake it, get the trimmers out. Praise and reward.
