I think all of our pups hold a place in our hearts - but (and this is only ME talking) there is always one 'special one'. One that we know can never be put above.
I DO think that, as we get older, things hit us harder. I hope, in time, that your husband is able to talk about the good times with you, to share your loneliness and therefore halve it.
