I'm sorry that this is gross but I also have a child and cat living in the apartment and would like to know what others think of this poop.

I'm not a dog poop expert, but if you are concerned I would get a sample and take it to the vet. It needs to be as fresh as possible so I would tell the vet you have a sample and see if they would let you at least drop it off right away.
